Charging & Remissions Policy
Southfield Primary School believes that all our pupils should have an equal opportunity to benefit from school activities and visits (curricular and extra curricular) independent of their parents’ financial means. This charging and remissions policy describes how we will do our best to ensure a good range of visits and activities is offered and, at the same time, try to minimise the financial barriers which may prevent some pupils taking full advantage of the opportunities.
Please click here to view our Charging & Remissions Policy.
Complaints Procedure
It is in everyone’s interest that complaints are resolved at the earliest possible stage. Many issues can be resolved informally, without the need to invoke formal procedures. As a school we take informal concerns seriously and make every effort to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
There are occasions when complainants would like to raise their concerns formally. In these cases, the school’s formal procedure should be invoked.
Our School Complaints Procedure and Policy can be found here.

Performance Tables
This section on the DfE website pulls together new and current research and evaluation projects, research centres, publications and data from a range of sites, making it easier to compare a selection of individual schools and to see all the information in one place.
This link takes you to Southfield Primary School's entry.
Pupil Premium
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
Please visit our Pupil Premium area of the website to find out further information and view our Pupil Premium Strategy.
Reading & Phonics
At Southfield Primary School we use parts of the synthetics phonics programme ‘Letters and Sounds.’ alongside our own system for phonics developed by our Foundation Stage team. Children begin phonics on day one in our Nursery and Reception Classes and are taught daily in small groups. Alongside the groups, teachers will refer to the phonics programme throughout the day, for example referring to a speed sound or green or red word at any given time. Please visit our English Guidance of the website to find out further information by following this link.
Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy
The Governing Body of Southfield Primary School takes its responsibility under section 11 of the Children Act and duties under “working together” to safeguard and promote the welfare of children very seriously. We work together with other agencies to ensure adequate arrangements exist within our setting to identify, and support those children who are suffering harm or are likely to suffer harm.
Please read our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy here or visit our Safeguarding information page here.
Special Educational Needs (SEN) & Disability Information
Children with SEN all have learning difficulties or disabilities that make it harder for them to learn than most children of the same age. These children may need extra or different help from that given to others.
