The new governing body of Southfield Primary School met for the first time on Monday 16 December 2019.
Our Governing Body
Natalie Garrett – Governor/Member/Chair of Governors
Natalie is the Chair of Governors and was appointed in December 2019. Natalie is a qualified Solicitor and specialised in employment law before becoming a full time mum. She has two children at Southfield Primary School. Natalie firmly believes that, with the right support and encouragement, all children have the ability to reach their full potential.
Louise Weaver – Governor
Louise was appointed as a governor in December 2019 and currently has two children at Southfield Primary School, with one set to join the nursery in January 2021. Louise’s focus within the school is safeguarding. Her background is in education, having qualified as a primary school teacher in 2005. In 2009 she became a nursery manager, helping to establish a new nursery. To develop her understanding of education, Louise undertook a Masters degree in education which she completed in 2016. She is enthusiastic about supporting the developments in Southfield Primary School.
Tim Hughes – Governor and Vice Chair
Tim was appointed as a governor in December 2019. Tim’s background is in secondary education having been a teacher of history for nearly thirty years. He was Head of History at Magdalen College School from 2003-14. Tim has two children at Southfield Primary School.
Simon Blackbond – Governor
Simon Blackbond FCMI was appointed as a governor in December 2019. Married with a son who currently attends Southfield Primary school, Simon also has 2 grown up daughters and was previously a school governor for 5 years when they attended their previous primary school. Simon has worked in IT for over 35 years (having worked for many large corporations primarily in the finance sector) and currently works as a Global IT Manager for HSBC and has teams across the world.
Alan Eaton – Governor
Alan Eaton has lived in Brackley for the last 20 years. He is married with 2 daughters, the elder one is now at Magdalen College School having attended Southfield, and the younger one is currently at Southfield. In terms of work his background is in hotels, initially in various operational roles, but for the last 15 years Alan has been in hotel finance roles. Alan also served on the committee of a local pre-school for the last 6 years. AIan enjoys living in Brackley and being part of the community and is looking forward to helping Southfield be part of the community as well. Alan was appointed as a governor in December 2019
Rachel Gallygot - Governor
Rachel has worked for both smaller, local MATs and larger, national chains and has a wealth of experience leading across groups of school. She is currently the CEO of a local MAT. Rachel has a sustained track record of school improvement across a range of schools and Ofsted categories. Rachel has used her expertise in school improvement to lead schools through difficult times and has worked with schools on the removal of special measures and as an Executive Headteacher across a 2-19 age range of schools. The majority of her skill-set lays within the primary sector and particularly in the development of Reading and Writing. She has also led a Strategic School Improvement Funded project that formed part of the ‘No Child Left Behind Strategy in York’ that focused on the development of primary aged writing, particularly for those children who are disadvantaged. This project pulled together system leaders to work collaboratively across 33 schools. Rachel has also worked as a senior advisor for Slough Borough Council with the Rosendale Research School on projects promoting social mobility. Rachel is delighted to be a Governor at the school.
